This will be new in 2017
f.re.e is growing to seven halls and approx. 80,000 square meters
Bavaria's largest travel and leisure fair is expanding its offerings in the Caravaning & Mobile Leisure area next year. As a result, two complete halls will be available for motor homes, caravans, tents and vans. In addition, the Munich Golf Days will run parallel to f.re.e during three days at Messe München for the first time. f.re.e will take place from February 22 to 26, 2017.
After the successful results of f.re.e February 2016 with more than 122,000 visitors and 1,200 exhibitors, Messe München is expanding the range and the area of the travel and leisure fair to a size of roughly eight football fields. This is an important decision, as Managing Director Reinhard Pfeiffer emphasized: “We consider the Caravaning & Mobile Leisure area to be very important. Therefore, we are very pleased that we are now going to have two complete halls dedicated to this topic following the positive development of recent years. This is a clear signal to the industry.”
The second new feature in 2017 will be the Munich Golf Days, which will take place under the umbrella of f.re.e from February 24 to 26.
Caravaning & Mobile Leisure
For the first time in many years, the Caravaning & Mobile Leisure area will occupy two complete halls. In Hall B3, visitors will find deals on motor homes, caravans, tents and camping accessories. Hall B4 offers a wide range of vans, extension options and pick-ups. In addition, visitors have the opportunity to get tips for holidays close to nature in the camping world, at the campsite service station and at the information booth of the Caravaning Industry Association of Germany (CIVD).
In addition to long-distance vacations as well as destinations in Central, Northern and Eastern Europe (Hall A4), the topic of travel also includes vacation offers in Bavaria, Germany, and the Alps (Hall A5). Mediterranean countries and the topic of cruises will occupy the complete Hall B5. In addition to the traditional destinations in southern Europe and North Africa, visitors can look forward to “f.re.e Ahoy” dealing with trips on the water on an exhibition area enlarged to almost 2,000 square meters. This includes the Harbor Stage as well as the Harbor Café, among other things.
As in previous years, the upcoming f.re.e will have theme days dedicated to travel and leisure opportunities. The selection ranges from “f.re.e Solo”, travel and leisure offers for solo travelers and singles, all the way to “f.re.e without Borders”, barrier-free travel and leisure.
Hall A6 offers a wide variety of water sports. Visitors can try out everything there, from canoeing to stand-up paddling (SUP) to diving, i.e., everything that is possible on under water. A “lakescape” will be available for canoes and SUP in the coming year. Water sport enthusiasts can both test canoes and try SUP in two separate areas there. In addition, special events such as a SUP Polo Tournament will take place on the lake. The trial diving courses promise even more activity. Just a few meters from the lake landscape, visitors can plunge completely into the cool water. In addition, exhibitors will present and sell the latest canoe models, boat accessories and courses as well as diving equipment and surfboards.
The topic of outdoors will also be located in Hall A6. With the Bavarian Alps close by, the majority of f.re.e visitors take advantage of the selection of equipment and clothing as well as the extensive range of information provided by the German Alpine Association (DAV) on the Outdoor Stage for preparing their next mountain tour. Together with Munich and the Oberland Section, Messe München is organizing CLIMB FREE next year for the ninth time. The Bavarian Open Championships as well as the Oberland Cup in bouldering will take place on Saturday and Sunday (February 25–26, 2017).
The selection of products from dealers and manufacturers in Hall B6 ranges from trekking bikes to mountain and e-bikes and all the way to special models such as freight or recumbent bikes. To enable visitors to get an accurate picture of the individual bikes, they can take test rides on three different bicycle tracks. Employees of DAV provide technical training to visitors on the mountain bike course, freight or recumbent bikes are available for rides on the special bike course, and e-bikes, trekking bikes and city bikes can be tried out on the large test track.
Munich Car Days and Munich Golf Days
In addition to the Travel and Leisure Fair f.re.e, the Munich Car Days (on all f.re.e trade fair days) will be held in Hall C4 as well as the Munich Golf Days in Hall C3 (February 24–26, 2017). A visit all three fairs is possible with a single ticket. In addition to the East Entrance, the North Entrance will be open during the duration of the fair for the first time and shuttle buses will run between the two entrances.
